Contests, photo competitions and submission to magazines is a great way to get valuable feedback and of course it's always fun to win once and awhile. Current photos that I have that are featured are at:

KODAK - They are featuring one of my photos on their home page. There are several others so you may need to refresh to rotate. The Vegas lightning storm is mine. I have had several photos picked by Kodak as photo of the day, which is cool because they post them in Time Square on a large screen display.

Digital Photographer Magazine - This photo won photo of the week recently and they will be publishing in next months magazine. They also have one of the highest quality photo sharing areas. Amazing pictures are posted. In the U.K. which by the way is by far my favorite when it comes to photography magazines. Their printing process is amazing in the U.K., must cheaper in the U.S. for some reason

I have also been published in DSLR User Magazine, Parade Magazine, Apogee Photo Magazine, and the San Francisco Examiner, and have won quite a few awards from the National Photo Awards program.  I have been rejected hundreds of times by National Geographic, but refuse to quit, since it is every photographers dream of course.
