DSLR Remote - Controlling your camera with an iPhone
DSLR Remote is an iPhone application that allows your iPhone to remotely control your camera (Canon for now, Nikon version is coming). I installed the Pro version ($19.99) on my 3GS iPhone and it worked 1st time. Your iPhone shows the same view as your camera viewfinder, and you can adjust most settings on the camera through the iPhone as well. You then snap away with a fire button on the iPhone. You do need the camera connected to a PC with a USB cable, so not a great feature when in the field, but for portraits or locations where you can have the laptop it is very cool. Nice job for the first version. Also valuable for playing with adjustments and special effects. The photos save to the PC, and you can drill down and zoom in on the iPhone to see details. I'll be testing wireless connections on the camera next, would love to use this without the laptop, and it's getting close, a lot of technology coming out fast for both the iPhone and the WIFI memory cards are available, but so far only in SDHC (see Eye-FI, the current leader in this technology). P.S. My installation was on a Canon 5D Mark II (which uses Liveview), make sure to check current models supported.
